Online casino sites to play on real money

Once all players have paid their buy-in the tournament can start. In general each player receives a set amount of credits to play with. All of the players then sit at a slot machine and get a certain amount of time to play. This tends to be quite a sight as all of the players are franticly hitting the spin button as fast as possible to get the maximum amount of spins in the set time frame. The tournament starts with buy-ins. This means that you pay an entry fee to join the tournament and have a shot at winning. Some tournaments are free and others are comped in which case the casino is essentially paying the buy-in for you. The amou8nt of players and the cost of entry will determine the prize pool.

How slot tournaments work

Before you enter any slot machine tournament it is important to understand how they work. While there are a lot of variations the basic principals remain the same for most tournaments both offline and online. In this article we discus the basics such as how to enter tournaments, how the prize pools work and the order of play.

The tournament starts with buy-ins. This means that you pay an entry fee to join the tournament and have a shot at winning. Some tournaments are free and others are comped in which case the casino is essentially paying the buy-in for you. The amou8nt of players and the cost of entry will determine the prize pool.

Let's say you have 100 players who all pay $50 to enter. This gives a total prize pool of $5,000. The amount of winners and prize pool distribution varies from tournament to tournament. In this example you might have a 1st prize of $3,000, a 2nd prize of $1000, a 3rd prize of $500 and 10 prizes of $50.

In the example above all of the prize pool is distributed to the winners. In a lot of tournaments the casino will keep part of the prize pool which is how they make money from running the tournaments. It is always worth checking on the prize pool distribution before you enter a tournament.

When the play time is over the winner is the player with the highest amount of credits on their machine. The places are also determined by the amount of credits on the machines. It is worth noting that you do not win the amount of credits that you have on the machine you win the prizes according to the tournament payout schedule.

Some of the bigger tournaments take place over a longer period of time with many smaller tournaments leading to a final round where the big money is won. In these tournaments you generally need to place high in the rankings in the smaller tournaments to move on to the next stage. The advantage of this style of tournament is that you tend to get much bigger prize pools.

The prizes are not always for the biggest scores. In some cases you will find that the tournaments also award prizes for the worst score. There are many different prize formats which is one of the reasons that slot tournaments are so popular.

Slot tournaments – how does it work and how to win

Long seen by many as the funniest, fastest, most exciting way to play slots, slots tournaments are a strong draw for many players for a whole host of reasons. The question is, what is a slots tournament and how does a slots tournament work?

Traditionally, as we all know, slots are a single player game. While slots in brick and mortar casinos are usually placed in long rows where players sit side by side, at the end of the day, no matter how many people are seated next to you in the crowded casino, the game comes down to you and the machine and, win or lose, you’re on your own.

That’s where slots tournaments differ.

What is a slots tournament?

As an exciting way to turn slots play into a social game, slots tournaments are great fun for competitive players who like not only the thrill of winning on their own, but that of beating out a host of competitors for great cash prizes. In fact, for some people winning the slots tournament title and seeing their name on the leaderboard in lights is almost as important as the great cash prizes involved. Competing in a tournament adds a whole new dimension of thrills to slots play for many slots enthusiasts and slots tournaments come in many shapes and sizes. Here we’ll take a look at some of the most common slots tournaments, including free slots tournaments for real money, traditional brick and mortar casino slots tournaments, like the kinds you’d find in las vegas, atlantic city or macau and online slots tournaments, like the kind you’ll find right here at slotu.

So, to jump right in, how does a slots tournament work?

The basic format of all slots tournaments is essentially the same. Obviously different tournaments will have slight variations of these basics to add a degree of uniqueness to the gameplay, but in general, it’s safe to say the fundamentals are fundamentals.

Whether you are entering a slots tournament in a traditional brick and mortar casino or an online casino like right here at slotu, the first thing you need to do is register. All slots tournaments, in traditional or online casinos will start at a particular date and time, so it’s important to register in advance to join in the gameplay. Registering after the start date and time and joining the tournament late is a fool's errand, as slots tournaments are essentially races. To do so would be like joining the 100-meter dash after everybody else has already run the first 50 meters. Doesn’t really make any sense, does it? Registration, however, is fantastically easy.

The old-fashioned way

At brick and mortar casinos you simply select the slots tournament you want to play, sign up and pay your buy-in. Almost all slots tournaments will require a buy-in. We have to say “almost all” because there are free slots tournaments for real money, often offered by brick and mortar casinos or sometimes even online casinos to regular players as a bonus gift, as it allows players to have tons of fun with no risk and great possible rewards.

Sizzling hot is one of the most popular slots for tournaments

At a traditional casino, in las vegas, atlantic city or macau, for example, once you sign up and pay your buy-in you’ll be assigned a seat in a particular slot. It’s important to keep in mind that different types of tournaments use different machines. So, when you’re selecting which slots tournament you want to play, look for one that involves a machine you love and know well. 5-reel machines with multiple paylines, prize multipliers and bonus rounds can be a blast but make sure you’ve played the machine before. Remember, a slots tournament is a type of race, so you want to know in advance the best betting strategies and how to play the slot bonus rounds, so you don’t have to lose time figuring out your options.
After registration and paying your buy-in you’ll be allocated a number of credits on the slot hosting the tournament. It’s also important to keep in mind that these are used it or lose it credits, so you want to make sure to play literally as fast as you can to maximize your chances of winning the greatest amount of points and taking home the title. You’ll be competing against all the other players in the tournament for first, second and third prizes (more on that below) that are awarded based on the number of points (coins you win) you score throughout the allocated time for slots play.

Sit&go slot tournaments

Traditional casinos also offer what are called sit&go slots tournaments. In this variant you register and pay your buy-in, then sit at your assigned slot. Once the required number of players have registered for the tournament, it’s time to go and start playing. These tournaments present a great opportunity to socialize with your fellow players before the game starts and size up the competition. Many people take a particular joy in knowing personally who they beat to win the title in a slots tournament, which adds yet another dimension to the fun.

Online slot tournaments

Online slots tournaments work very similar to traditional casino slots tournaments, in-so-far as you register first, and get a username alias but without the surrounding distractions you have in a classic brick and mortar casino. In online slots tournaments, your real username is not used, as it could compromise your privacy and/or the security of your account, so nine times out of ten, depending on the quality of the online casino, you’ll be asked to provide an alias to identify you for the tournament.

Then comes the buy-in. The buy-in is the standard fee players pay to join the tournament and will reflect both the number of credits you receive to play for the time of the tournament and the total amount of the prize pool.

Certain slots tournaments are capped in terms of total prizes, to make they more “exclusive” by limiting the number of competing players. Others are open, with the more people playing in the tournament the higher the overall prize pool. It’s important to shop around when selecting an online slots tournament to find the one that’s just right for you in terms of length or play, number or minimum and/or maximum competitors and prize pool structure.

Once you register and pay your buy-in you’ll see the tournament time, duration and details on your screen. As slots tournaments are a race, it’s vitally important to keep track of the start time. You don’t want to be distracted or looking the other way when the starting gun goes off!

Learn the ins and outs of the online casino tournament world, and discover how to beat it.

Nothing is more exciting than participating in a tournament. It doesn’t matter what kind of tournament – poker, march madness, mortal kombat – if there’s a tournament happening, it’s guaranteed to have intrigue, excitement, and more often than not, a lot of money for the winner.

How do online casino tournaments work?

That’s a good question. I’m glad you asked. The basic structure for a standard online casino tournament involves accumulating points, rather than cash. Tournaments vary game by game, but usually players will be competing to get the highest possible score (the most money) in the game of the tournament, before the time runs out.

You pay a set amount to enter the tournament, and are given credits to play with, which you use to accumulate the highest bankroll you can in the time allotted. Tournaments often have little prizes along the way, as well as prizes for those who ranked highly, if not first. The more players who have signed up for the tournament, and the higher the buy-in for the tournament, the larger the prize pools will generally be.

Slot tournaments can also be a fun way to play a whole bunch of games on a slot you like, with real stakes behind it (like if you win the tournament), but without having to worry about losing your shirt since you already know how much you’re going to spend on this play session when you put down the buy-in.

EXAMPLE SLOTS TOURNAMENT:

Let’s say you decide to enter a tournament on the paydirt! Slot, and the buy-in is $50.

If 200 players enter the tournament, the total prize pool will be $50 x 200 ($10,000), minus any fees the online casino may charge.

There are many ways to split up that $10,000 prize pool. One example is below –

4 th – 13 th place: $100 each

With a set-up like this, the top player stands to win a good chunk of the prizes, but you’ll still at least double your money if you make it into the top 5-6%

Let’s say this tournament starts everyone out with 1,000 credits, and has a 20-minute time limit. That means you’ll want to spin as much as you can, getting your total winnings as high as possible before time runs out.

What kind of tournaments should I play?

In the world of online casinos, tournaments are a great way to lure in players from all over the world and have them compete against each other. Most casinos offer a wide variety of tournaments, including slots, blackjack, roulette, poker, free roll, and many more.

The most popular tournaments are, you guessed it, slot machine tournaments. There’s something intoxicating; thrilling, about being able to cast some huge slots bets as you work your way toward the finish, and many players enjoy having the chance to play their favorite game for hours, while not having to check on their bankroll.

So let’s start here, with the slots. You should pick a slot you’re comfortable, and enjoy playing. If you’re new to online casino gambling, it might be worth taking a little time to play through some slots for free, so you can get a feel for how they work, and pick one that matches the style you like to play. Try out some slots for free, instantly.

Once you’ve found a slot you really enjoy (and you’ve taken a bit of time to practice it; come on now, practice makes perfect), it’s time to find a place to play.

How Slot Tournaments Work, how do casino slot tournaments work.

What should I look for and what should I do?

Look for accumulated pay tournaments. The cash payouts are bigger in tournaments that use most of the player fees to issue prizes. If the total of the player fees are significantly less than the grand prize, the casino is retaining that money rather than issuing it to players as prizes.

Play in tournaments as often as you can. The more often you play in slot machine tournaments, the higher the odds are of you winning in them. Determine your tournament fee budget ahead of time and stick to that budget, entering in as many contests as that amount allows. Frequency of play is the key to winning these exciting contests.

How do I win these tournaments?

It’s hard to narrow down a definite strategy when it comes to slot tournaments, as so much of it comes down to hitting the right symbols at the right time. That said, the following tips are meant to give you as much of an edge as possible:

  1. Bet the maximum amount. These credits aren’t going to roll over into your account if you don’t send them, so bet high and bet hard. You’ve gotta get to the top!

  2. Spin fast. Similar to point one, if you’re playing in a timed tournament, you need to be spinning those reels as fast as you can. Set them to the quickest setting, and keep your fingers poised to stop and start the spins as often as possible. The more spins you make, the higher your chances of winning. And when you do come up with a win on your machine, don’t take the time to celebrate the victory. It is but a small win in the bigger picture, and you don’t want your cheering time to take away from playing time.

  3. Avoid distractions. Even when you’re playing in your own home, distractions can take away from what would have otherwise been an amazing slot tournament victory. Before you play, make
sure the dog is walked, the oven isn’t on, and nothing’s going to interrupt your flow.

  4. Concentrate and maintain speed. These may seem like obvious suggestions, but it can be difficult to maintain concentration in the midst of the flurry of activity during a slot tournament. The other players may be engaging in rituals that can invite you to be entertained or the noise level can get high. If you allow yourself to take your concentration off your machine for a few seconds, you can lose valuable playing time that cannot be regained.

Slot tournaments – how do they work?

By: will connington october 2, 2018

What are slot tournaments? Slots are among the least competitive games you could think of – just how does a tournament work? Well, there is actually nothing complicated at all. You compete against the other players by simply spinning your slot. At the end of the tournament, the player who has accumulated the most winnings receives the grand prize. That’s the gist of it – the rules rarely get more complex than that, and there is no specific preparation required other than getting familiar with the slot you will be playing in advance. We’ll cover everything that you need to know in the next few paragraphs. We’ll also talk about online slot tournaments which can be a tad more complicated.

Basic format of a slot tournament

When on a night out at your favourite casino, you may have noticed a portion of the venue blocked by ropes, and a number of people spinning the slots at a furious speed. That’s how a slot tournament looks from the side.

In a slot tournament, you usually receive a number of credits from the casino, and have a set amount of time to play through them. Your wins are tracked, and the player who has accumulated the most coins – or points – wins the tournament.

Such tournaments create a great sense of camaraderie as they gather slot fans from all over the region – but there is little time for interaction during the tournament itself, as you have to focus on your own slot. This means that there is no direct conflict, and you shouldn’t expect a battle royale of some sort. Of course, an obnoxious loud-mouth might ruin your fun from time to time. Sadly, you will encounter such individuals in all alleys of life, including casinos where you’re supposed to relax.

Are slot tournaments free?

Wait, if the casino is giving you credits, is the tournament free? Well, you know what they say about free lunch.

How Slot Tournaments Work, how do casino slot tournaments work.
In most cases, slot tournaments have a fixed entry fee – a ‘buy-in’. It would be something like £25 – £50. The funds gathered this way usually make up the prize for the tournament winner. Most players grow quite fond of this system, because this actually sets the limit on how much they will spend gambling in advance.

Sometimes, casinos do organize free slot tournaments. Those are great, of course – you get to play without any investment, and might just nab the prize! The casinos usually view such tournaments as a means of attracting more regular customers, and you should expect much lower prizes than in paid competitions.

Additionally, many casinos organise private tournaments for their more loyal customers. You can enter those only upon receiving a special invite. The quality can vary across most venues, but casinos with strong brand usually tend to make those impromptu competitions memorable and fun for their regulars.

Rules, tips and strategy

How Slot Tournaments Work, how do casino slot tournaments work.
Under this basic format, slot tournaments are determined solely by luck. This is fine – after all, the history of slots shows that they got so popular because they didn’t require too much skill in the first place. That said, experienced players do hold certain advantages which might mitigate their luck to a degree. Playing at a slot tournament differs from regular games because you are not using your own money – this means that you should bet as much as you can! Considering that only your wins are calculated, you would maximize your chances if you play through as much of your budget as possible.

This might seem like a silly suggestion, but keep in mind that you have a set time limit, and there is a certain physical overtime required to insert your coins and pull the lever. A lot of inexperienced players lose speed as they grow tired, or simply stick to their casual tempo – this is a mistake, because any credit you fail to wager contributes nothing to your final result!

Another mistake players do is to lose time celebrating their wins. Of course, joy sometimes overwhelms you, and it isn’t bad to voice it, but the clock does not stop ticking only because you scored a good win, and the other players are also racking up their results.

The same basic principle applies to online tournaments, of course – things might be a little more innovative there, but you should maintain a constant speed and use up as much of your allotted budget as possible within the timeframe. This means that spending a little time before the tournament to get familiar with the slot you will be playing on and trying out the controls for yourself will prove invaluable in the long run.

Online slot tournaments

Online operators have also been playing attention to the success of the slot tournaments and trying to adapt them to the pc platform. Some casinos like 32red hold regular tournaments on specific online slot games, while others like royal panda organise thematic promotional campaigns at different times of the year.

Online slot tournaments can break from the basic mould described in the above paragraphs. Sometimes they don’t even have a set time limit – after all, this can be a hassle for many of the participants. Once more, there might be an admission fee required, but there are also alternative variants.

Certain tournaments take place over longer periods of time, and don’t award you with free credits in advance. Instead, you accumulate score with your normal playthroughs. At the end of the tournament – which can be a 20-minute session or a 1-month slog – the best player is awarded with a cash prize.

Notice the use of the word ‘best’. If an online tournament breaks from the set mould of playing through a number of credits, the win conditions might change too. Sometimes the players accumulate points by scoring a streak of wins – this is a good format, because it means that it doesn’t matter how large your bet is!

Avalon, tomb raider and starburst are among the more common titles you can expect to find listed for tournaments.

Other types of online slot tournaments – the terminology explained

If you like to change your online gambling venues, you might encounter more innovative tournament variants. Here are some of the main types:

  • Signup freeroll: this light competition is a good way to get to know your way around your new online casino. Some operators organise such events as a little extra to the welcome bonus that you receive. However, you shouldn’t expect a large prize pool. Usually it is only the new players that get to take part for a £50-£100 first place reward. More importantly, such events might secure you a free invite to other tournaments with more lucrative prizes. Take advantage of such events and use them to see what a tournament feels like and whether you enjoy the casino’s format.

  • Scheduled tournaments: your basic slot tournament. It is advertised in advance, and you need to register before the beginning and play a buy-in fee.

  • Sit and go tournament: those are open-seat tournaments. There is a limited number of places, and you need to sign in to take one. As soon as all the seats are taken, the tournament kicks off – but keep in mind that sometimes there can be a significant wait before enough players are gathered.

  • Sit and go tournament: those are open-seat tournaments. There is a limited number of places, and you need to sign in to take one. As soon as all the seats are taken, the tournament kicks off – but keep in mind that sometimes there can be a significant wait before enough players are gathered.

  • Comped tournaments: the term might be familiar to some of you. Comp points are loyalty rewards that some online casinos give you for playing on their games with real money. As you can imagine, these slot tournaments are the equivalent to the VIP events we mentioned above, where only loyal customers are invited.

  • Reloader tournaments: those are the equivalent of ‘re-buys’ in poker tourneys. In such tournaments, the buy-in allots you specific time for play, but you can rebuy for an additional fee and start over if you bust out. Such tournaments are usually featured with microgaming slots.

  • Extender tournaments: similar to the above, but you get the chance to buy add-ons here. The add-ons boost your final score. Most players choose to take up this option if they want to maximise their odds of winning, but it is perfectly fine to ignore it if you trust in your luck.

  • Survivor slots tournaments: this tournament uses one of the most competitive formats and introduces an elimination phase. There are different rounds, and only the winner from each stage can move on the face the rest of the winners. Rebuying or adding on is not allowed.

  • One-shot tournaments: these are single-elimination tournaments. You get a single shot at qualifying for the next stage – there are no rebuys, no add-ons, and no mercy. The battle here is fiercer than the competition for jobs in the UK!

How do slot tournaments work?

Before we go on answering just how this kind of tournament works we'll need to classify the different types of tournaments we will find out there. After distinguishing the types of tournaments then we can go on with how to participate in a tournament and what goes on during the games.

Slot tournaments are a bag full of fun and it comes as a treat for those who only have a set amount of money to play slots. Of course not all the tournaments that you'll find are the same. You can classify all of them into two: first is the invitational type tournament, which is some sort of private tournament that isn't open to everyone. Usually, a casino's loyal customers are the invited guests to play in these sorties - that also includes high rollers into the invited elite.

Second - there are also open tournaments, which would allow other players to participate. Players in these tournaments will be required to pay an entry fee for them to participate. So you either get to pay the entry fee to play or you can opt to earn your comps to gain access to the invitational tournaments. Either way, you get to enjoy this mode of playing slots.

One little reminder is that you don't need to bring change when you participate in these tournaments. The only money you'll ever have to bring is the one you'll use for the entry fee. The slot machines will be programmed to have a set amount for the games.

Here's how you join and play. First, you should register at the table designated by the casino. You'll be attended to by a member of the casino's staff in the registration process. Here's where you pay the entry fee if you're participating in an open slot tournament. You may be required to present a "player's card" (if you don't have one, ask the staff where you can sign up for one, they'd be glad to help you out), or your invitation (i.E. If you're joining the invitational).

You'll then be assigned a machine to play on or you pick one you like to play on. That will depend on the rules of the tournament.

You then sit on your assigned slot machine then the tournament director will tell you to start. You keep playing until the time is up. Wait at your machine for one of the casino employees to record your number before you leave your post. Some tournaments will have multiple rounds so you get to play more.

The results of different rounds are tallied and the winners will then be announced, but some casinos will have a given date when the announcement will take place.

And that's basically how slot tournaments work. The format of the tournament is easy and the games are really exciting.

Many slot machine tournaments require a buy-in.

Most of the buy-in goes towards funding the prize pool. The remaining amount is a fee that goes to the house for running the tourney.

Here’s an example of a slot machine tournament buy-in:

  • The entry fee is $10 + $1.

  • The $10 portion goes into the prize pool.

  • The casino keeps the remaining $1 as a fee.

You get a set number of credits for your buy-in. The credits are a score used to determine paying positions and don’t represent how much money you’ve won in the tournament.

Prize pool

A prize pool is the amount of money that players are competing for. The prizes are usually weighted towards the top, with the highest finishers taking the largest portion of the prize pool.

Let’s look at a sample prize pool involving a $5,000 tournament:

Prize pools can either be guaranteed or variable.

A guaranteed prize pool means that the casino must make sure the tournament meets the stated amount, no matter how many players enter. For example, if they guarantee $1,000 and there’s only $800 in prize money, then the casino must cover the remaining $200.

A variable prize pool doesn’t guarantee how much money players can expect to win. Instead, this is entirely up to how many people enter the event.

If 90 people to pay a $10 + $1 buy in, then the tournament prize pool will be worth $900.

What prizes are available?

The most common prize in slot machine tournaments is cash. This is especially the case in any tourney where you need to pay a buy in before entering.

Land based casinos can also give out alternative prizes, including free hotel stays, free meals or slots vouchers.

How do slot machine tournaments work?

Formats

The rules of a slot machine tournament differ based on the format. One standard format is a timed tournament, where players spin the reels until they reach the time limit.

The winners are determined by who has the most chips when the time is up. Here’s an example of a timed slots tournament:

  • Each player receives 1,000 credits to start.

  • The tournament lasts for 20 minutes.

  • Credits are deducted from your bankroll whenever you spin the reels.

  • Credits you win are shown in a separate display.

  • Credits aren’t replenished.

  • Any credits that you don’t spend are nullified.

Another tournament format is one where you play until your credits run out. The number of credits you have when your chip stack runs out determines your score.

Let’s look at an example of this:

  • Each player receives 500 credits to start.

  • You spin until your 500 credits are exhausted.

  • Credits are deducted every time you spin the reels.

  • Credits you win are shown in a separate meter

  • You play until all credits are gone.

One more tournament style is a multi-day event that lasts until a predetermined date. An example would be a slots tournament that begins on the first of the month and ends on the last of the month.

These tournaments can be based on either of the two examples above, where you either spin for a certain time limit or until your credits run out.

Multi day slot machine tournaments let you enter multiple times (a.K.A. Rebuys) over the course of the event so that you can improve your score. This brings another element of strategy into play, where you have to decide how many rebuys it’s worth spending based on the prize pool.

Start & end times

The starting time for a slots tourney can vary based on the format. Single day events begin as soon as there are enough people who’ve bought in.

Other tournaments begin regardless of how many entries there are. This is especially the case with multi day tournaments, where people can buy in at any time to try and get the highest score.

The end time also varies based on the format.

A timed tournament begins as soon as the time limit is reached. Tournament officials will then determine the results and who wins prizes.

Credit based tourneys start and end at specific times of the day. Players can enter these events at any time of the day to play for the highest score.

Multi day slot tournaments end at a certain time and date. For example, a tourney could end when the clock strikes midnight at the end of the week or month.

How to find rules for slot machine tournaments

Knowing different tournament formats is a good way to start with slots tourneys. I urge you to check out the rules for the specific event that you’re playing.

A land based casino may post the rules and prize pool structure in their establishment and/or on their website. Online casinos post the rules in the section where you sign up for the event.

Again, look up rules before entering and playing in any slot machine tournament. This helps you figure out exactly how you can win a share of the prize money.

Types of slot machine tournaments

Buy-in

We discussed buy-in slot machine tournaments earlier. These events require you to pay a buy-in, with portions of the entry fee going to both the prize pool and casino.

What’s fun about buy-in slots tourneys is that the prize pools are usually larger than other types of events. I’ve seen some online slots tournaments with prize pools worth six figures.

Freerolls

A slot machine freeroll is a tournament that doesn’t require a cash entry fee. Freerolls break down into one of two types:

  1. No entry fee at all.

  2. Buy in with loyalty points.

The good thing about the first style is that anybody can play without any type of entry. This is great for players who are trying to build a bankroll, yet don’t have cash or points.

One catch, though, is that you normally have to register at the casino before playing.

Online casinos require you to create an account before you’re eligible for these types of freerolls. Land based casinos may ask you to sign up for their mailing list before you’re entered into a free tournament.

This means that you’ll see hundreds or even thousands of players competing for a prize pool worth a couple hundred dollars or less.

The second type of slot machine freeroll requires you to earn loyalty points and spend them on the buy-in. The good thing about these tourneys is that they’re more exclusive and the prize pools are usually larger.

The catch is that you need to play real money slots and earn loyalty points first before you’re eligible to enter these freerolls.

VIP tournaments

Players must be invited into a VIP slot machine tournament. This means achieving a certain status in the casino’s loyalty program so that you’re eligible to play.

The good thing about VIP slots tournaments is that the prize pools are usually large compared to the number of entrants. The drawback is that you’ll need to play a lot of real money slots to achieve specific VIP status is for these tournaments.

Where can you find slot machine tournaments?

Online casino slot tournaments

Internet casinos offer a good mixture of buy-in, freeroll and VIP slot machine tournaments. Note that you must make a real money deposit before you’re eligible to play in the buy in events.

An online casino lobby will feature all of their different slots tourneys. You then scan through the list and find the tournament you wish to play.

Choosing any tourney will bring up various details such as the buy in amount, prize pool, start time, number of registered participants, leaderboard and where you can sign up.

How to enter online slot machine tournaments

You need to create an account before you’re eligible to play in either real money tournaments or freerolls. This involves entering details like your name, home address, email, and mobile phone number.

Many freerolls allow you to play for free as long as you’re a registered member. Others require that you have loyalty points or a specific VIP status.

Again, you must make a deposit before playing in the buy-in tournaments. This entails visiting the casino banking section, choosing an available banking option and then funding your account.

Land based casino slot tournaments

Brick and mortar casinos hold slot tourneys as ways to draw players back into their venues. This means that you’ll find a lot of casino slot machine tournaments where only frequent players are invited.

Land based casinos don’t hold as many buy-in slot tournaments, but you will find these events available on occasion, too.

How to enter slot machine tournaments

You can sign up for brick and mortar slot machine tournaments at the venue itself. Some casinos might also let you sign up online, too.

Casino slots tourneys feature a limited number of machines. This means that you’ll receive a machine number and play time in order to stagger the entrants.

You need to show up to your assigned machine on time in order to participate. An official may confirm your score when your tournament session is finished.

Slot machine tournament strategy

Slot machine tournaments are much like regular play where there’s not much strategy involved. Nevertheless, there are a few things you can do to influence the results.

Here are a few basic tips that’ll help you succeed:

Tip #1: hit the spin button as fast as possible

Given that many slot machine tournaments are timed, the best thing you can do is use all of your credits within the allotted time frame.

This entails pushing spin as quickly as possible. The goal is to exhaust all of your credits before the buzzer so that you don’t leave anything on the table.

Tip #2: get your rest & take care of everything beforehand

Pushing spin over and over may sound simple, but this can actually be taxing over the course of 20 minutes.

You should get your sleep and make sure to take care of everything before a tournament like eating and staying hydrated.

Tip #3: ignore the scoreboard

It’s tempting to check the scoreboard during a tournament to see where you stand, but this is also a waste of precious time that can cost you.

Don’t even worry about the scoreboard while you’re playing. Checking it won’t improve your chances of winning, and it’ll only slow you down.

Tip #4: practice bankroll management

Bankroll management (BRM) is especially crucial in tourneys that let you rebuy, such as the multi-day events. After all, you need to consider how many buy-in’s it’s worth spending to try and move up the leaderboard.

  • Your bankroll is $200.

  • You’re playing in a $5 buy-in tourney with unlimited rebuys.

  • This means you have 40 units (200 / 5).

  • The top payout is $1,000.

  • You decide to cap your number of entries at 5 units.

The amount of units you spend is entirely up to you.

But capping your entries at 5 units ($25) ensures that you don’t blow your entire bankroll on a single event. Meanwhile, it also gives you multiple chances to move up the leaderboard and win money.

Tip #5: take advantage of freerolls

Freerolls are a good way to build your bankroll, especially the ones that you can enter with points or VIP status. You should take advantage of any freeroll with a reasonable ratio of players to prize pool.

Check casino social media pages and watch your mail/email to find freeroll offers. The more you take advantage of, the better chance you have to build your bankroll for cheap.

Conclusion

Slot machines tournaments offer a nice mix of strategy and luck, which is perfect for casual gamblers.

The strategy comes in when considering bankroll management, tournament selection and spinning the reels quick enough. As for luck, slots are better known for this more than any other casino game.

Another good thing about slot machine tournaments is that you can enjoy different formats and styles. Formats include timed and credit based tourneys, while the styles include buy-in, freeroll and invitation events.

Answers

How do I find out when tournaments are on?

Up until now the only way you were able to find out when tournaments were taking place was to either be a member of the various casino VIP programs or to visit the casino web sites hoping to find tournaments. Now with slottournaments.Com you can easily find tournaments in las vegas and around the world with our tournament database.

How do I determine the value of a tournament?

You have to look at the prize pool, the buy-in cost and the number of players in the tournament. You can then work out whether the tournament is worth entering based on the chances of winning and the cost of entering. You will also find that many tournaments offer added extras such as rooms included or meals. All of these features increase the value of entering.

Should I re-buy if the option is offered?

The option to re-buy is often offered in big tournaments. Quite simply you pay a second fee to have another shot at the tournament. We suggest only re-buying if the top scores are low seeing as this still gives you a chance at winning the top prize. If the scores already include top jackpots then it is probably not worth re-buying since you will have less chance at getting the top prize.

How do I get entry into VIP or comped tournaments?

Quite often the best tournaments are invitation only. To get invited you need to be a carded player at the casino and earn a certain number of points. This of course varies from casino to casino and from tournament to tournament. We suggest talking to a casino host to determine how much carded play you require to get invited to tournaments.

How do I work out the odds of winning a prize?

This is quite simple as long as you have two pieces of information. You need to know how many prizes are offered and how many players are taking part in the tournament. For example if you have 200 players in a tournaments and there are prizes for the top 50 players you have a 1 in 4 chance of at least winning something. You have a 1 in 200 chance of winning the top prize.

How can I speed up the machine when playing a tournament?

In general you should try to press the spin button as soon as the previous spin is completed. Most machines will skip the win count up if you press the button so this will be the fastest way to play. In some cases you have to wait for wins to count up so your aim then is to press the spin button as soon as the win stops counting up.

Is there a good strategy for slot tournaments?

Unfortunately there is no strategy that will help you win tournaments. We have listed some quick points to help you get the most out of tournaments in our tournament strategy section.

Strategy for slot tournaments

With slot tournaments offering bigger and bigger prize pools it is clear that having some sort of strategy is a good idea. The first point to note is that there is no strategy that can guarantee you will win tournaments. This is because you can in no way later the results you will get when playing a slot machine - there is nothing you can do to change the odds of a slot game.

So what can you do to increase your chances of winning. The two biggest factors are speed of play and concentration. All tournaments have some sort of time limit and to stand a chance at winning you really need to have played the maximum amount of spins. This means you have to keep pressing the spin button as soon as the reels stop. Don't waste time by waiting for credits to count up and don't waste time getting annoyed on near miss spins.

It is also important to concentrate on what you are doing and not on other players or distractions. While it is quite normal to want to see how you are going compared to other players this just wastes time. Wait until the time is up to see what position you are in and don't let anything else such as phone call disturb you from your main aim - spinning those reels!

Do's and don'ts for slot tournaments

Below are some quick points to keep in mind when preparing to play a slot tournament.

  • Arrive at the tournament area before the required time

  • Make sure you don't have any injury that will prevent you from a lot of button pressing

  • Make sure you spin the reels as fast as possible

  • Play max bet on every spin

  • Make sure there is nothing to distract you

  • Don't waste time by waiting for wins to count up on the machine

  • Don't look around at what other players are doing

  • Don't stop spinning the reels until either the time is up or you have finished your credits

  • Don't forget to have fun!

Is there a secret to winning?

As much as we would like to give you a sure fire system for winning slot tournaments there is no such thing. Just like there is no system you can use to always win on slot machines. Anyone who tell's you different is either misinformed or is trying to make money by selling you a useless system. Slots are just random machines with a few lights and some spinning reels. Luck is all you need to win on the slots and to win tournaments!

How slot tournaments work on WGS technology software

Casino tournaments are becoming more and more popular with players and having a better understanding on how slot tournaments work on casino softwares is key. Slot tournaments work best when the experiences are as realistic as possible with the same excitement as live events not to mention more action at the fraction of a regular slot play.
It is a contest where various players play a casino game for a pre-determined amount of time using a specific amount of funds provided. Aim is to accumulate as much balance as possible by playing the game wisely. A player’s success level is determined by his/ her ranking against other players.

Slot tournaments can be offered for a number of games. You can enter a slot tournament by paying an entry fee. Once the tournament starts, you will get a pre-determined amount in tournament funds to play with. You can play until you run out of funds or the play time finishes, whichever comes first. At the end of a tournament, your ranking is determined by comparing your end balance with end balances of various other players part of this tournament. If your balance is higher than other players, you will have a comparatively higher ranking and vice versa.

Some slot tournaments work by allowing you to re-buy if you have no funds remaining in the tournament. This allows you to keep playing in a tournament by paying an additional re-buy fee.
To help you understand the concept behind how slot tournaments work we have outlined some points generally common in all tournaments.

  • Each player gets the same number of starting chips

  • Each player uses the same pre-determined game

  • Tournaments usually last for a set period of time determined by the start and end time

  • A player completes the tournament once the tournament ends or they run out of tournament balance

  • Winners are determined by who has the highest balance

Slot tournaments types

There are a few different types of tournaments with certain sites offering variations on these.

  • Freerolls

  • Scheduled tournament (with buy-in and fixed payout)

  • Scheduled tournament (with buy-in and accumulated payout)

  • Invitational tournament

  • Sit and go tournament

Freerolls are just that, free! They do not cost anything to enter even though you stand to win real money. In most of these types of tournaments the prizes are usually small compared to the buy-in type tournament. Online casino’s usually offer a daily free roll, weekly free roll or sometimes a monthly free roll. Most often the games used for these free roll tournaments are slot games.

Sit and go tournaments work very similar to a how a poker site offers sit and go tournaments. They kick off once the minimum number or participants are registered for the tournament. Usually these types of tournaments require the player to pay a buy-in fee and have a cap on the number of players allowed to enter. The time for these sit and go battles are for a short period of time, roughly thirty minutes to an hour. The prize is determined by a percentage of the buy-ins to make up the prize pool.

There are two types of scheduled tournaments. Both have buy-ins, a predetermined game, with a set start and end time. Some are usually for a couple hours to a week or even a month. These buy-in tournaments tend to attract a lot less registrations usually because of the fee to enter. The main difference between them is that one prize is fixed by the casino operator and is shared amongst the winners. The other prize is variable or percentage based on the number of entrant fees and buy-ins that take place during the actual tournament. Eg. The house will say 70% of the buy-ins will go towards the prize. That means if there were $5000 in entry fees and buy-ins, the prize would be $3500.

The invitational tournaments work by inviting the casino’s most important players. This is an invitational tournament for those who are members of usually the higher level segments or high rollers. Entry is usually free to start with a predetermined buy in amount. You tend to find these tournaments use table games for such a tournament.
